MLD FOR CELLULITE

Cellulite
is the term used to describe the appearance of dimpled skin (orange peel) that can occur on the hips, thighs and buttocks. This lumpiness can be caused by a combination of poor circulation, poor venous drainage and poor lymphatic drainage.

Fluids and toxins build up just under the skin between the cells making a thick layer that develops into fibres that cause the unattractive dimpling. If the condition is not treated it can develop into the orange peel skin which can cause pain.

The most effective treatment for cellulite is Manual Lymphatic Drainage, to help remove the excess fluids and toxins. Studies have shown that when MLD is combined with a deep oscillation unit there is a significant reduction in fluid, a larger improvement in the skin tone.

Strong massage should be avoided as this can cause damage to the lymphatic system; however a very gentle micro massage that stimulates capillary circulation works extremely well. Specialised garments are available that exert an effective micro massage on the skin while being worn. Clinical tests have demonstrated that wearing these garments produce a quicker result in terms of skin tone and appearance.

It is also recommended that nutritional advice is sought and specific exercise can also be recommended if required.
